Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) Calculator

Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) represents the number of calories your body needs to maintain essential functions — like breathing, circulation, and cell repair — while at rest. Understanding your BMR helps you plan your calorie intake and weight goals more effectively.

How We Calculate BMR

We use the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation, which is considered one of the most accurate methods for calculating BMR:

For Men:
BMR = 88.36 + (13.4 × weight in kg) + (4.8 × height in cm) - (5.7 × age in years)
For Women:
BMR = 447.6 + (9.2 × weight in kg) + (3.1 × height in cm) - (4.3 × age in years)

Your daily calorie needs are calculated by multiplying your BMR by an activity factor:

  • Sedentary (1.2): Little or no exercise
  • Light Exercise (1.375): Exercise 1-3 times per week
  • Moderate Exercise (1.55): Exercise 4-5 times per week
  • Intense Exercise (1.725): Intense exercise 6-7 times per week
